The rings
What are Subtly Anxious rings made of?
All our rings are 18k gold, white gold, or rose gold plated on a premium 925 sterling silver base — free of copper, nickel, and chromium. Our abacus fidget rings are solid 925 sterling silver. Our Jessie Clicking Fidget Ring is premium stainless steel. Every ring is stamped with the s925 symbol so you can verify the quality yourself. When shopping elsewhere online, always ask what the base metal is — "hypoallergenic" without specifying the metal usually means copper, brass, or nickel.
How do I know which ring style to choose? New
If you enjoy rolling or spinning motion, our spinner rings are a great starting point. If you prefer a tactile clicking sensation, try the Jessie Clicking Fidget Ring. If you want something sensory that looks like fine jewellery at any occasion, the abacus or gemstone spinner styles are a beautiful choice. Still undecided? Our bundle collections let you try multiple styles at a better price.
There are cheaper rings that look similar — why buy from Subtly Anxious?
Yes, similar-looking rings exist on Amazon, Etsy, and Temu — and the difference is in the base metal. Cheap alternatives are often copper or nickel, which can cause green fingers, skin reactions, and rusting. Our rings are 925 sterling silver, a standard that jewellers trust, and every ring is stamped with the s925 trademark and our registered Subtly Anxious trademark. We're a small Australian business based in Brisbane. We quality-check every order before it leaves us, and we don't dropship.
What comes in the box when my order arrives?
Each ring arrives in a beautifully ribboned gift box with a microfibre pouch — ready to give as-is. Kids size orders also include an anxiety ring card you can present to the school if they have a "no jewellery" policy.
Do they work?
How do anxiety and fidget rings actually work?
Fidget rings give your brain a steady, predictable stream of touch and movement. That signal helps regulate arousal, attention, and sensory load — which is why they're particularly helpful for people with ADHD, autism, or anxiety. The repetitive motion (spinning, clicking, sliding) engages the parasympathetic nervous system and can act as a grounding technique, redirecting nervous energy into a low-stakes physical action. Research on fidget tools shows consistent modest reductions in anxiety and improved focus for people who habitually fidget.
Is there real science behind this, or is it just a TikTok trend? New
Both, honestly — and that's not a contradiction. They did go viral, but the underlying mechanism is well-established. Repetitive sensory movement (stimming) is a documented self-regulation tool used by neurodivergent and neurotypical people alike. Small studies show measurable reductions in anxiety when fidget tools are used consistently. These rings are a tool in a broader wellbeing toolkit, not a substitute for professional support if you're managing significant anxiety or a diagnosed mental health condition.
Do I need to have anxiety or ADHD to wear one?
Not at all. The rings are subtle, elegant pieces worn by people of all ages and neurotypes. Many customers wear them simply because they enjoy the movement, or to redirect habits like nail-biting or skin-picking. You don't need a diagnosis to benefit from something that feels calming to wear.
Sizing & fit
I have large (or very small) fingers — will it fit?
Yes. Almost all our rings (except the Jessie Clicking Fidget Ring) are self-adjustable and fit sizes 5–10. You don't need to measure your ring size. They adjust to fit very small fingers too — they've even been worn comfortably by a 5-year-old.
Are there rings for children?
Yes, we have a dedicated kids size collection. Our adjustable rings also fit very small fingers. We don't recommend unsupervised use for children under 5 — small parts if broken could be a choking hazard, as with any jewellery or small toy.
Will the spinner be noisy or distracting to others? New
The spinning mechanism on our rings is designed to be silent or near-silent — a deliberate design choice so they can be used discreetly in classrooms, meetings, and workplaces. The Jessie Clicking Ring does produce a soft click, which is part of its appeal for tactile stimming, but it's very quiet compared to most fidget tools.
Ordering & shipping
How long will shipping take?
We're based in Brisbane and every ring is packed and dispatched by us — we don't dropship. See our shipping page for current timeframes. Free shipping within Australia and New Zealand. Free international shipping to USA, Canada, and Europe on orders over $120 AUD.
How can I pay?

What if my ring arrives faulty or I want to return it?
We offer a 30-day change of mind return and a 12-month warranty, and we comply with Australian Consumer Laws. If your ring arrives faulty or incorrect, contact us within 7 days and we'll make it right. See our Warranties and Returns page for full details.
Do you have a physical store?
We're online only, but if you're in Brisbane and need a ring urgently, email us at info@subtlyanxious.com.au and we'll do our best to help.
Care & durability
Will my skin react to the ring?
No — that's exactly why Subtly Anxious was created. Our 925 sterling silver base is hypoallergenic and won't cause green fingers or skin reactions. If stored and cared for correctly, the rings won't tarnish either. If oxidisation does occur over time, a gentle buff with the included polishing cloth will restore the shine.
Will the gold plating wear off? How long will it last? New
18k gold plating on a 925 sterling silver base is the combination used across the demi-fine jewellery industry. With proper care — keeping your ring dry, storing it in the pouch when not in use, and avoiding perfume and harsh chemicals — the plating lasts well. If you wear your ring constantly in water or at the gym, our solid 925 sterling silver abacus rings are the most durable option.
Can I wear my ring in the shower, pool, or gym? New
We recommend removing your ring before swimming, showering, or exercising. Prolonged exposure to water, chlorine, sweat, and chemicals shortens the life of gold plating. For active, everyday wear, the solid sterling silver abacus rings are the most resilient choice.
Gifting
Is a Subtly Anxious ring a good gift? How is it packaged?
It makes a genuinely thoughtful gift — especially for someone who fidgets, experiences anxiety, is neurodivergent, or is navigating a stressful season of life. Every ring comes in a ribboned gift box with a microfibre pouch, ready to give without any extra wrapping. The rings are self-adjustable (sizes 5–10), so you don't need to know the recipient's ring size.
My child's school has a "no jewellery" policy — can they still wear it?
Yes. Every kids size order includes an anxiety ring card explaining why it's a sensory regulation tool, for you to present to the school. Many schools make exceptions once the purpose is understood. The rings are also subtle enough that they rarely draw attention.
NDIS & support
Can I use NDIS funding to purchase a ring?
We're not an NDIS-registered provider, but we can issue an invoice for you to submit to your plan manager or NDIA manager. As of October 2024, NDIS funding must be used for items on the approved Supports list — check with your plan manager whether the ring qualifies as an Assistive Product (Personal Care/Safety) or a Low Cost Consumable. We can't guarantee reimbursement. Email us at info@subtlyanxious.com.au to request an invoice. More information on the NDIS website →
